What you will need to make Sushi -
page 1
(Dinner for 4-5 people)
All of the required materials Krolik has seen on his
Histerical trip on the Historical
Motherland in many stores. So even if you live in Russia, your whining
complaints won't work. In the US, you can get all this stuff in any
oriental food store.

1. Rice- 3 Cups.
Always remember, rice must be round shaped, not a long one! Round
rice softens much better than any other, and in sushi, rice must
be fairly soft. There are many sushi rice brands, all it is is
just a fancy name, remember round rice (no matter what brand)
is the best!
2. Rice Vinegar- 1/2 Glass.
There is a special kind of sushi vinegar, with sugar, salt, rice
vodka, rice wine, and various spiceries in it. Yet you always
can use regular salad vinegar. You can of course make sushi vinegar
yourself: 1/2 cup of regular vinegar, 2 table spoons of sugar,
and 1 tea spoon of salt, afterwards stir thouroughly.

|
3. Sauce "Kimchee" 1-2 tea spoons
- For making hand rolls, but be careful, it is extremely spicy.
4. Soy Sauce- 1/2 glass
|
|
|
5. Sesame seed - 2-3 Table Spoons
These seeds are the ones that are "glued" on to a hamburger
bun, and if you cannot find them in stores, you can just dig some
out of McDonald's sandwiches, in fact these are just for decoration
and a little flavor. |
|
|
6. Wasabi - 2 tea spoons of dry powder.
This you will have to prepare before you start making the sushi,
for it has to "brew" for a while to be ready. You of course
can buy it in a tube like Astronauts, but you might confuse it with
a toothpaste... |
|
|
7. Ginger - 2 table spoons
You should eat ginger in between the consumption of 2 different
kinds of sushi, just to neutralize the taste.
8. Cucumber and Avocado
For the fillings.
|
|
|
9. Raw fresh fish (Salmon) fillet - 1
pound
Krolik prefers salmon, because of its balance in taste, and price.
You might get dolfin or any other "sushi" fish, but
it must be REALLY fresh. From this point salmon is safe enough
- you may keep it for 2-3 days in a fridge. NEVER BUY FROZEN FISH,
IT MUST NEVER HAVE BEEN FROZEN.
